Trainings are $10 for those not requesting CEU’s and $25 for those requesting CEU’s.

 

Sept 28th, 10-11:30am: Foundations of Effective Internet Safety – REGISTER HERE

This 90-minute training reviews the main categories of online risk, why and how standard messaging has been ineffective, forms of abuse and exploitation online and reviews youth perspectives on tech values, risks, and effective communication. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners offers 1.5 hours of Category 2 CEU’s.

Oct 2nd, 1-2pm: HOPE 101: Healthy Outcomes of Positive Experiences – REGISTER HERE

Just as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can play a role in future health and well-being, so too can the presence or absence of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs). Positive experiences can ease toxic stress and help children and youth grow into more resilient, healthy adults. This 90-minutes training will review the Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) framework and participants will learn a new way of seeing and talking about experiences that support children’s growth and development. HOPE identifies ways that our communities and systems of care can promote children’s access to positive experiences and nurture and celebrate their strengths. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners offers 1.5 hours of Category 2 CEU’s.

Oct 5th, 10-11:30am: Risks and Responses to Children Sharing Explicit Materials – REGISTER HERE

This 90-minute training reviews the pull of Internet on the developing brain, data on who and how explicit material is shared, the social and legal consequences and what to do if your child has sent, received, or requested explicit material. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Oct 12th, 10-11:30am: Keeping up with Apps and Parental Tools  – REGISTER HERE

This 90-minute training reviews effective online safety communication with kids, risks and safety measures associated with popular apps, systems for deciding which apps to allow and what to be aware of in the future. Oct 24, 10-11:30am: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention strategies in school-based settings – REGISTER HERE

Nov 3rd, 10-11:30am: Promoting Inclusivity for Children and Families Impacted by Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) – REGISTER HERE

This 90-minutes presentation aims to describe the differences between typical and problematic childhood sexual behaviors, dispel myths associated with PSB, and discuss the needs of parents, children who engage in PSB, and other children, before moving into practical suggestions that participants can consider to increase their responsiveness and inclusion of families impacted by PSB. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Nov 9th, 7-8:30pm: Let’s Change the Conversation About Internet and Tech Safety: A School-based Approach – REGISTER HERE

This 90-minute presentation aims to define child sexual abuse material and discuss relevant barriers, risks and rewards, and effective responses, review updated data on perceptions of normalcy, and identify best practices for engaging with adolescents through a harm reduction approach in diverse school-based settings. Pending approval from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. This 90-minute presentation reviews our school-based presentation developed for 6-12th graders. Those who attend will be able to identify best practices for engaging with adolescents on sensitive subjects while also receiving up-to-date information around trends in the field of child sexual abuse prevention and recovery. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners offers 1.5 hours of Category 2 CEU’s.

Nov 30th, 12-1:30pm: Promoting and Practicing Body Safety:– REGISTER HERE

This 90-minutes training will review the difference between typical and problematic childhood sexual behavior, discuss the importance of parental supervision, review sexual behavior rules, and consider ways to promote and practice body safety at home. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 1.5 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners offers 1.5 hours of Category 2 CEU’s.

Dec 4th, 9-11:00am: Stewards of Children:– REGISTER HERE

Stewards of Children® is an evidence-informed, award-winning two-hour training that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Through interviews with child sexual abuse survivors, experts, and treatment providers, Stewards of Children® teaches adults practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities. Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 2 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners offers 2 hours of Category 2 CEU’s.

Dec 7th, 9am-3:30pm: Youth Mental Health First Aid:– REGISTER HERE

Facilitator: Chelsea McGonigle

This 6 hour training is designed to teach adults how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Pending approval from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and offers 6 hours of Category 1 CEUs. Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners offers 6 hours of Category 2 CEU’s.
