Thursday January 23, 10 am -12 pm: Internet & Tech Safety

This session will help you define child sexual abuse material and understand relevant barriers, risks, rewards, and effective responses. In addition, you will review data on perceptions of normalcy and recent trends in online exploitation as well as consider the cultural impact of technology on adolescents. Attendees will discuss best practices for engaging with adolescents through a harm reduction approach.
Thursday January 30, 2-5 pm: Responding to Child Sexual Abuse: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Enhance your response to child sexual abuse by learning about unique considerations for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Attendees will (1) review symptoms, factors, and reactions of child sexual abuse, (2) understand common characteristics and common co-occurring challenges among those with disabilities, (3) examine the intersection of child sexual abuse and those with disabilities, and (4) learn best practices to incorporate into your work with those with disabilities who have been impacted by child sexual abuse. Note: this training is an expanded version of the 1-hour training being held on June 10 and will include deeper discussions around the four learning objectives.
Tuesday February 11, 3-5 pm: Promoting Inclusivity for Children & Families Impacted by Problematic Sexual Behavior

This 2 hour presentation aims to describe the differences between typical and problematic childhood sexual behaviors (PSB), dispel myths associated with PSB, and discuss the needs of parents, children who engage in PSB, and other children, before moving into practical suggestions that participants can consider to increase their responsiveness and inclusion of families impacted by PSB.
Friday February 21, Noon-2 pm: Supervising Ethical Therapists
2 CEUs
This training session is crafted for supervisors overseeing therapists who provide care to sexual abuse survivors. Led by both a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and an attorney, it addresses dual layers of supervision: enhancing the supervisor-supervisee relationship, and equipping supervisors with the tools to guide their supervisees in managing their professional relationships with clients effectively. The workshop will explore creating a psychologically safe supervisory environment, navigating ethical challenges, and maintaining appropriate boundaries, all while ensuring that these principles are mirrored in the therapists’ interactions with their clients.
Wednesday, February 26, 9-11 am: Trends in Child Sexual Abuse Response and Prevention

This 2-hour presentation will review our school-based presentation developed for 6th-12th graders with a focus on recent trends reported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Maryland Children’s Alliance. Those who attend will be able to recognize warning signs of child sexual abuse, investigate the correlation between technology and child sexual abuse material and exploitation, and discuss best practices for reducing risk of harm.
Wednesday March 5, 2-4:30 pm: Stewards of Children
2.5 CEUs
Stewards of Children® is an evidence-informed, award-winning two and a half hour training that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Through interviews with a very diverse group of people with lived experience, experts, and treatment providers, Stewards of Children® teaches adults practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities.
Thursday March 20, 3-5 pm: Ethical Pathways: Safeguarding Therapists in Sexual Abuse Survivor Care
2 CEUs
This training session is designed to equip therapists with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of providing care to sexual abuse survivors while avoiding malpractice. This collaborative training, led by an experienced therapist and malpractice attorney, will offer a comprehensive overview of ethical guidelines, legal considerations, and best practices to ensure the highest standards of care.
Thursday March 27, 3-5 pm: Culture of Care: Building Workplaces That Keep Children Safe
Attendees will gain an understanding of the impact of company culture on child safety. Learn best practices for cultivating a protective environment for children and families. In addition, you will develop strategies for continuous improvement in child safety
practices within the organization.
