Developing a Resource for Survivors of Sexual Abuse by Religious & Institutional Authorities

Change the Conversation is proud to release its latest report, titled “Sexual Abuse by Religious and Institutional Authorities (SARIA): Environmental Scan and Gap Analysis Report”. This work, supported by funding from the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention awarded by the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), addresses the complex challenges faced by survivors of sexual abuse by authority figures – such as religious leaders, teachers, and coaches – particularly in the wake of media coverage of such incidents.

Through extensive research and engaging discussions with survivors and professionals, Change the Conversation has gained deep insights into survivors’ needs and experiences.

This report signifies the initial phase of a project that will culminate in the release of a resource in June 2024. This resource will be specifically designed to support survivors in the aftermath of new SARIA cases in the media.
