Veto Mentzell

Certified Law Enforcement Officer, Maryland

Veto is an active-duty law enforcement commander with the second largest Sheriff’s Office in Maryland, serving a population of approximately 263,000 citizens in the Greater Baltimore Region. For nine years he also served as Program Director for their Children’s Advocacy Center, where he led a large multidisciplinary team in the prevention, intervention, investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Veto was part of the first cohort of master trainers in Maryland on Adverse Childhood Experiences. He works to raise awareness on the negative health and social impacts of abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction, and to support the healing influences of resilience, positive childhood experiences, and thriving communities. Veto lives in the Central Maryland area with his spouse and child. They enjoy traveling and spending time together in the outdoors.
