Joan Tarasevich

Development Associate

Joan comes to Change the Conversation with over 25 years of experience in public health and nonprofit work with a variety of organizations including Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, Planned Parenthood of the Mid-Hudson Valley (NY) and Chrysalis House, a residential treatment facility for women with substance use disorder in Anne Arundel County. Joan has wide and deep experience in development and grants management, behavioral health program design and implementation, communications, and education.

Joan has lived around the world—from Addis Ababa to Annapolis, and several places inbetween, and has always worked to better understand the cultural and social norms that impact health choices and health behaviors, and has built relationships, teams, and programs to improve them. She is energized by working with a wide variety of people to reach a common goal that genuinely helps real people live better lives.

Joan has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. She currently lives in Baltimore City with her husband and son, and frequently visits her daughter in New York City.
